I made yummy burger

I made a yummy yummy burger.
The burger itself was turkey meat, with finely diced onions, mushrooms, and garlic(which i sauteed in a pan before adding them to the raw meat), and some dried parsely and oregano. I grilled the burger on my foremans grill. Then I sauteed up some larger pieces of onion and mushroom in a bit of balsamic vinager. Then i roasted some garlic. I toasted my buns (tee hee). And I made a bit of yogurt and lemon sauce. Then I put it all together with the roasted garlic smeared on a bun, fresh spinach leaves on top of that, some dijon mustard, burger, onions and mushrooms, lemon yogurt sauce, and another bun. It was delish!!!!

Survivorwise:
love the little burst of light when the flying star dagger things hit the board.
And I'm glad there aren't too many morals in this season.

Home work

Today I learned why calico cats are colored the way they are. Female cats have two X chromosomes and on each of thoes chromosomes is a gene that codes for either black hair or orange hair. So in calicos they have portions of skin where the X chormosome with the black gene is dominant and portions where the X chromosome with the orange gene is dominant. So where there is balck hair the X chromosome with the black gene is the chromosome that is being read by the RNA. This results in the pretty coloration. And this is why there are very few calico males, because there needs to be 2 different X chromosomes. So calico male cats are actually XXY.

And I also had to add this in from my very charming physics book. Even my TA said that he can tell the book is poorly written and he is far from a native english speaker.

"The story of the boy and his toys goes like this. One there was a little boy who had some toys. Mostly, the toys stayed in the boy's room. Every now and then his mother would clean up his room and put the toys away where "they belonged". But as soon as she finished picking up and left the little boy alone in his room, he began to interact with the toys. Soon they were again scattered all over the room. And no matter how much the mother wished it would be so, it never happened that after the boy and the toys interacted, they ended up back "where they belonged." That is, after the boy and the toys "came to equilibrium," the toys were always scattered all over the room."

What?

I also learned last week that Kelp is NOT a plant. It is a protist, in kingdom Protista, domain Eukarya.

ooh and.
"In every person's body, there are 10 times as many microbial cells as there are human cells" Science News 2007

My Physics Book is Annoying

This chapter is about Models of Thermodynamics

"At first it seems almost like magic. And to an "outsider" to the field, it is very analogous to magic, in the sense that you know there must "be a trick," but you cant imagine what it is. When you are reading and making judgments on scientific papers, you don’t want to be like the "jaw-dropped-open-in amazement" spectator, but rather "the insider," who at least knows where the "trick" is occurring, even if you don’t have the skill to perform it yourself. "

-College Physics: A Models Approach by Wendell H. Potter

That passage just leaves me speechless. i mean "speechless"

weekly

ive decided to make myself write at least somethign here once a week. no matter how small and trivial.
today i took some rosemary from rosemary bushes used as landscaping and used it in roasted potatoes.
and i wore my shirt inside out all day today.
i didnt notice until i took my long sleeved shirt off. around 2 PM today.
luckily it wasnt too noticable and i was too lazy to change it.
but thats what happens to people who get dressed in the dark at 7 AM.

Stress

One of the best pieces of advise I have gotten recently is when you are feeling down or have had a rough day,

put on your favorite pair of socks.

All of these ideas are ideas that I try and live by.

The first three are my favorite.

Learn to live one day at a time.

Every day, do something you really enjoy.

Do one thing at a time. When you are with someone, be with that person and with no one or nothing else. When you are busy with a project, concentrate on doing that project and forget about everything else you have to do.

Do something for somebody else.

Become more flexible. Some things are worth not doing perfectly and some issues are fine to compromise upon.

Relax your standards. The world will not end if the grass doesn't get mowed this weekend.

Laugh uncontrollably, It clears the mind.

Think positively.

Learn what is and what is not controllable in your life.

Enjoy leisure.

Be honest about how you feel.

Express yourself.

Learn to accept what you cannot change.

Stroke yourself.

If an especially unpleasant task faces you, do it early in the day and get it over with, then the rest of your day will be free of anxiety.

Allow yourself time - everyday - for privacy, quiet, and introspection.

Make friends with non-worriers. Nothing can get you into the habit of worrying faster than associating with chronic worrywarts.

Create order out of chaos. Organize your home and workspace so that you always know exactly where things are.

Say "No!" Saying "no" to extra projects, social activities, and invitations you know you don't have the time or energy for takes practice, self-respect, and a belief that everyone, everyday, needs quiet time to relax and be alone.
